Just cant resist painting the ball jars- I especially love the blue ones!

The Fish House

The painting is of the harbor in Port Washington, as usual filled with fog.  Fisherman congregate there to cast for salmon in the fall.  Its a popular place to fish all year long.  I struggled with the fog on this painting, there are many many layers of color involved in getting it to appear foggy… The soft glow of the autumn colors combined with the grey fog is what drew me to this subject.  Sorry, this painting is SOLD.

Dave’s Falls Peephole

Dave’s Falls Peephole

This painting is of Dave’s Falls in Marinette County, WI.  This is the lower falls, through a space in the trees as you walk parralel to the falls.  The water there is a beautiful sienna.

This painting is currently available, please contact me at fullmmonartist@yahoo.com if you wish to purchase.

Latest Work

Sunflowered AlleyBall Jars

Here are a two of the last paintings I have been working on.

On the Lake

So today I am not going to post a painting, but a photograph.  This was taken on our favorite close to home fishing lake.  Just at sunset - it was a great show for about an hour.

Green Lake 6 2 09

I think that when the day comes when I can paint and catch this light in my paintings, I may stop painting, there will be nothing else to learn about painting.  I say may, because at that point when I can catch this scene, I know i will want to go back with my new knowledge and re explore all the things, scenes and places I have painted before.  Not to re paint them, because they are not good, but to see what new things I can do.

Dont get me wrong - I have lots of paintings I am proud of and attached to, that are successful and wonderful.  But I also have those that I just know I havent exactly caught what I was after.  That somehow fall short of the thing i was seeing.  I keep painting so that someday I can learn to paint the way i want to paint.

And some paintings just take repeating, I am no longer sure how many times I have painted the full moon over fields which inspired the name of my studios.  There is a particular garden I am painting now over and over and I am not bored with, and not sure yet if I have told the whole story of what I see in the image.  The same goes for my River Reflection/Mosaic series - I think it is not yet quite finished.  And I wonder, what will these paintings be if I can ever accomplish catching the light, the mood, like in the sunset above.  They wont be less.  They have become a part of my exsistence.  I just believe the image itself will not let my mind rest until it too has been made with the new knowledge.

Oh and by the way, my boys, Dave and Mike, placed a bet on the outcome of our fishing trip:  first fish caught, biggest fish, and most fish caught.  Those boys will be buying me ice cream, cuz I won on all three!  Hope y’all are having a wonderful summer day!
